Organization design model examples

  • Decentralized delivery model.  Each program/sector/region carries out policy/advisory and transactional activities.  A corporate group provides functional direction, establishes organization-wide policies and standards, and advises senior management.

  • Corporate strategic delivery model.  The corporate group provides organization-wide strategic management support and functional direction; each program/ sector/region delivers policy/advisory and transactional activities.

  • Mixed model.  A centralized corporate group delivers transactional activities and provides functional direction.  Each program/ sector/region has its own policy/advisory team.

  • Centralized distributed model.  A centralized corporate group delivers policy/advisory and transactional activities on behalf of programs, sectors and regions.  Local advisors reporting to corporate are dedicated to the branches, sectors and regions.

  • Centralized delivery model.  A centralized corporate  group delivers all policy/advisory and transactional activities on behalf of the organization.

These models can be viewed on a continuum where elements of each model may overlap.
