Consulting Services Capability Assessment Tool (10 slides)

The consulting services capability assessment tool is intended to help consulting firms, in-house advisory groups and independent consultants assess the capabilities of their consulting or advisory practice.  For example, key capabilities could include: scope of services; product development; opportunity management; client relationship management; communications and branding; service quality; consultant engagement; and practice management.

You identify the key strategic capabilities required of your practice, taking into consideration the type of the services provided, the marketplace or client groups served, and your organizational/corporate goals.  

You then assess the capabilities of your organization based on different states or plateaus that the organization may strive to achieve based on generally recognized common/best practices that can be customized to reflect your strategic capabilities.  A capability maturity model is provided for this purpose.
